The Craft Divas are at the AQS Quilt Show in Grand Rapids, Michigan Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The Craft Divas are AQS members. This year’s show was especially enjoyable. My husband, who is super supportive of my craft and journey to quilt/fiber artist, likes to tease me about how affected I am when ending events like these. He finds it funny when we have the quilt book authors sign our books and how excited we get.
We attended an AQS Authors Roundtable. This seems to be a standing offering at each show and we usually make sure it is on our list to attend. AQS publishes quilt books, booklets, patterns, and just started publishing novels. We have our proposal packet and contacts of those who have been published. Stay tuned, who knows what’s in our future.
We attended a workshop to help hone our quilting technique with Linda Hahn (www.froghollowdesigns.com) a delightful Jersey girl who has written 2 books for AQS.
We also attended a lecture with Jacquie Gering (www.tallprairiegrassstudio.blogspot.com) one of the authors of Quilting Modern: Techniques and Projects for Improvisational Quilts. This lecture was inspirational for me and Diva Dane. We are following our passion and working to expand ourselves as quilt and fiber artists. Jacquie’s amazing work and passion helped reinforce our belief that we are moving in the right direction.
We found new tools, fabric and products and can’t wait to get back to our studios to begin projects using the tools and techniques we acquired. Our pockets have never been this light leaving a show. Can’t wait to start sharing what we are inspired to do.
