Hey Everyone from QuiltCon East,
QuiltCon took place at the Savannah Convention Center and we had to ride a ferry each day from our hotel to the center.
Savannah, Georgia was so beautiful. During our stay, the weather tempature was between 70 and 80 degrees. QuiltCon was very nice. Bizzy Lady and I took 4 classes during the day and at night. We took Getting to know EQ7, Modern Design using EQ7, Straight Stitch FMQ and New Binding Techniques. We learned a lot from all the classes and are very excited to put what we learned into projects we design.
Bizzy Lady and I participated in the first MQG Swap. Bizzy Lady was a Swap Fairy. With this swap you were able to swap the mini quilt that you made for your partner at QuiltCon. It was nice to be able to meet my partner in person.
It was also really nice to fellowship with other quilters from all over the world and also meet our Instagram Friends face to face. We were also fortunate to meet Vanessa (Crafty Gemini), Jenny (Missouri Star Quilt Company), Alison Glass and Stephanie (Latenight Quilter).
There were so many outstanding quilts on display and we wanted to share a few of them with you:
This quilt won best in show.
One of the best quilts at the show was a quilt in honor of Trayvon Martin, titled “Tea and Skittles”. Thomas Knauer did an awesome job. He quilted words throughout the quilt. Take a look at the video in this post.
It was a wonderful week and can’t wait for QuiltCon 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Until next time……
